JOYCE HACKETT

is a writer and community activist. She holds a BA from Wellesley College and an MFA in Creative Writing from Columbia University. She studied and worked in Italy for several years, and now divides her time between NY and Berlin.

Her work has appeared in a variety of publications, including Harpers, Salon, Prospect (UK), London Magazine, The Paris Review, The Chicago Tribune, The Boston Review, The Independent, and the Berlin daily Der Tagespiegel.

Currently, Joyce Hackett is the 2006 Holtzbrinck Fellow at the American Academy in Berlin.
